That all aside, Tim Curran was brilliant as Van Gogh, a perfect portrayal and aiding the man’s depression with lovely subtleness, not to mention his reaction to the Van Gogh section of the Louvre (I believe the location was there). As for our two heroes, there was a lovely, albeit subtle, reference to Rory; with Amy being upset and unsure why, and of course, the blatant reference to Rory when the Doctor called Vincent the name.
Personally, I learned a lot about poor Van Gogh in this episode, so one cannot deny that Who is merely for entertainment purposes! Anyway, the Doctor was perfect, the right amount of emotions added to the perfect balance of comedy, and Amy was impeccable as ever, with a perfect emotional scene at the end of the episode with Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.
Doctor = 9.5/10 (Comedic and brilliant).
Amy = 10/10 (Perfect).
Van Gogh = 9/10 (Tim Curran was excellent!).
Plot = 9/10.
Overall episodic rating: 9.5 out of 10! Wonderful!
…although am still not excited for, or looking forward to, the Lodger. Never mind, eh? The finale, as far as I’ve read it, seems to be looking good.
